Sonic Stories is a participatory workshop developed from Ain Bailey’s Art on the Underground commission, Maybe It’s Because I’m a Londoner with Elaine Mitchener. Through shared sounds, listening and collective reflection, participants explore the disappearance of London’s cultural and community spaces and what their loss means for memory, care, belonging and collective identity. The workshop forms part of The Trembling City: Sound, Cities, and Spatial Justice, conceived by Gascia Ouzounian and developed with Ibraaz through the Sonorous Cities project.

Audible Futures brought Ain Bailey into dialogue with Lawrence Abu Hamdan, Nathalie Harb, Mhamad Safa and Sumayya Vally in a roundtable moderated by Gascia Ouzounian. The discussion considered sound and listening as tools for spatial investigation and justice: exposing structural inequalities, recovering marginalised urban histories, tracing the loss of cultural and community spaces, and imagining forms of sonic refuge. The event formed part of The Trembling City: Sound and Spatial Justice, developed with Ibraaz through the Sonorous Cities project.
